Kaufman County Animal Awareness Project (KCAAP) join forces to offer free and low-cost pet sterilization services for City of Garland residents.
The KCAAP Critter Cruiser will transport animals from the Garland City shelter to the KCAAP clinic in Crandall the fourth Wednesday of each month. The animals will be transported back to the Garland Shelter the same day for discharge at around 7:30pm. For pickup location and to schedule an appointment, contact KCAAP at (972) 472-3500.
The new state-of-the-art clinic includes 1,800 sq ft with two surgery tables and will accommodate 30 cats and 32 dogs. The shuttle van can accommodate up to 35 animals of various sizes.
Costs for the program are determined by the weight, sex and species of the animal. Cost for dogs are: males less than 45 lbs, $40; males more than 45 lbs, $45; female dogs to 45 lbs, $45; 45 lbs to 80 lbs, $50; and females over 80 lbs, $55. Costs for cats are males $25 and females $35.
Funds are available to help those on government assistance, those who own multiple pets, caretakers of feral cats and those who own dogs weighing more than 45 lbs. Because Texas law requires current rabies vaccination, if proof cannot be provided at the time of surgery, the animals must be vaccinated at a cost of $6. All surgeries are by appointment only.

Most participating veterinarians require at a minimum current rabies vaccinations prior to the surgery. If you do not bring proof of rabies vaccination with you to the
surgery appointment, they will require your pet to have a rabies shot before they perform the surgery. You may want to check with the
veterinarian you select ahead
of time to see if they have any additional vaccination requirements. Click here for

information.
